Today's Ubonics phrase may throw ya fer a loop. Then again, it's prity straightfawrwawrd. As before, first to translate correctly gets bragging rights:
Thuh carn gits su'dang tawl overta thuh fawrth wawrd!
Good luck. Doncha wish ther wuza dix'shnary fer this?
I'm not going to try to translate, but I just wanted to add that only a female speaking Ubonics would say "prity straightfawrwawrd" with a big smile, while a male would say it "prty stretford" -- at least, that's been my experience.
ReplyDeleteOne more thing: Speaking this language now labeled as "U"bonics does not come easily for me, but thanks to these phonetic spellings, I just might be able to fool a few into thinking I'm a native! Not that I was going for that, but hey, it's still nice to know I could. right?
ReplyDeleteHeather, you sound like a beautiful advertisement.
ReplyDeleteI will try and translate, although I am a little puzzled because it doesn't make any sense to me: The corn gets so dang tall over at the fourth ward.
So far, no one has been totally correct. But Ashley, you are close!
ReplyDeleteShot'n thu dark...
